Several hours later, the most recent story I was working on is done. Most of my stories top out at about 2,500 words. I tend to write short-shorts, it's just how I roll.
Once I got done, I asked J to read it over for me, and as he was getting ready to do so, I did a word count.
FRIGGIN BALLSACK WHAT.
After he read through it he had a couple points that needed to be edited but overall I will probably end up plumping out the wordcount slightly. Which means I went from skirting the minimum boundary between flash fiction/short story to pushing the upper region of short story/novella.
O HAI GREY AREA WHAT IS THAT?
But he's my harshest editor and his opinion is apparently "holy balls this is so publishable", so this gives me a gleeface. Gonna snooze on it for a few days then go back with the Red Pen of DOOM.
also, I wrote over half of that wordcount tonight in one fell swoop. woot.
