As of today I've realized this knowledge may lead to my imminent death by stomach rupture.
Yesterday's were savory with beef/cheese/onion/jalapeno/tomato in a cheddar-infused dough.
This afternoon, spurred by hormones, I took K. Sandra Fuhr's base recipe for sweet empanadas and ran with it. Her dough recipe, first off, is the best thing I have ever eaten in my life. I will be making all my piecrusts and suchlike this way in the future.
Second, I ended up making half with strawberry and half with raspberry preserves, then added a chunk of dark chocolate in the middle and a light dusting of unsweetened cocoa powder. Then folded, glazed with egg wash and sprinkled with cane sugar & cinnamon BEFORE baking, then a tiny dusting of confectioner's sugar when they came out.
I'm not even a huge fan of sweets normally, but I'd love these things even if they weren't working like a nuclear strike on my PMS. ^_^
