A bit of levity

Whilst talking to someone about my current problems (and the need to keep plowing on in the face of them), I quoted some opera:

Ridi, Pagliaccio, Sul tuo amore'in fronto (Laugh, clown, though your heart is broken)

then I realized that thanks to my upbringing, I can never think of that line without automatically following it up with: "All at once, there's a fat guy in a clown suit!"

I was raised on Spike Jones and his City Slickers, as well as Tom Lehrer (which explains my love of filking and Weird Al). Two of my favorites, since I studied and competed in classical piano (ah, the things you folks don't know about me), were his bodily-function rendition of the Nutcracker, and "Pal-Yat-Chee", a redneck spoof on the famous opera.
