To paraphrase:

"Do you hear that, Fezzik? That is the sound of ultimate suffering. My heart made that sound when I could not find my 12,000 word manuscript and discovered that both my online backups had been erased without my knowledge. The Woman in Black makes it now."

I'm not quite in full blown screaming freakout yet. There is one more place I think I backed it up, but I can't check until tomorrow morning. So for the next 12 hours I'll just sit here and EAT MY OWN LIVER.

I may have lost another story as well, but quite frankly, it was mediocre and I was planning on redoing it from scratch anyway. It doesn't bug me so much. But the other... I want to rail and froth and shove salted burning torches up sysadmin asses, as well as my own for not making even MORE backups that I had 100% control over like I've done with all my other stuff and I was SO SURE I'd done with this one too. Oh, lordy lordy lordy...

EDIT: Nope, it's gone. Serves me right, for something, I'm sure.

Holy SHIT I found a backup temp file at home. No idea why it didn't turn up on the first two searches, but I'm not questioning it. Thank you, universe, for smiling on me today.

EDIT: Holy shit, part 2: There's another few stories in here I started then completely forgot about until now. But what's really weird is there's one in here that I seriously don't remember starting or ever coming up with at all. The HELL?!
